on video Ac Bulb Dimmer or Fan Regulator

Ac Bulb Dimmer or Fan Regulator

In this video I made a circuit about how to simple control bulb brightness using fan regulator. This is a diy idea and simple brightness control circuit and I control the light of use an incandescent light bulb.

Dimmer switch is mainly a voltage regulator and may be variable resistor which control the voltage in any circuit.

By using this technique you can also make a led bulb dimmer.

How Fan Dimmer Regulator works, Fan/Bulb Regulator, Dimmer, Circuit Explanation, Simulation (Part-1)

To adjust the speed, conventional old ceiling fan regulators use resistive wire connected in series, and there are multiple points to connect the regulating knop switch. This type of regulator operates on a full resistor load between load and source to create the necessary current and voltage drop. Lowering the speed means increasing the resistance. These regulators require more space and resemble a large rectangular box with a circular knob on top. These are also referred to as resistive regulators. The box is made up of a wire wound resistor with various taps that are connected in series with the fan's motor. Because nichrome wire is used as a resistive material in these, more power is lost due to heat produced by these resistive wires.

There are three main components in the Triac-based electronic fan regulator circuit. One resistor, one capacitor, one diode, and one triac are used. TRIAC is a type of semiconductor device that belongs to the thyristor family. This is used to control the speed directly by holding and releasing the current flow. When the voltage across Diac exceeds the level of VBO, it is triggered and activated. The VBO for the DB3 is 32v (+/-4v). This means that when the voltage across DB3 reaches 32 volts, the device turns on and current flows through it. Diacs are created by combining two diodes in opposite directions. Diac generates the Triac gate signal, and the supply is routed from MT2 to MT1 based on the gate signal. Resistor and capacitor form an R-C circuit to provide timing delay and timing constant for Diac input, and the timing constant pulses allow it to create limited voltage through triac and provide regulated input supply to the load.
