Automatic Micro Hydroelectric Turbine for Farms - Off Grid System
It generates energy to maintain lighting and the surplus can be injected into the grid through a grid tie inverter. Operating voltage 110 volts AC three-phase - uses a transformer that raises the voltage to 220 volts AC to power the lamps and another transformer that lowers the voltage to 36 volts AC and is then rectified to be delivered to the inverter.
We finally get the micro hydro turbine operating consistently without leaks or issues. We beat our target of 350watts by putting out 570watts after some tweaking of the nozzle settings. We reseal the base of the hydro turbine and fix some drips coming from the PSI gauges, sort out the filters at the inlets and test the power output to our ecoflow delta pro making sure not to exceed its capacity.
This 4 nozzle micro hydro system is making 500 plus watts of power for a grid cabin in the woods. First up is the intake. The stainless steel Coanda screen pulls over 200 gallons per minute to reduce the debris that enters the system. Next is a 4" penstock to carry the water from the source to the pma or permanent magnet alternator. This PMA has four nozzles that sweep around the unit on all sides. The water jets made by these nozzles push the spoons or cups on the pelton wheel. Wild 3 phase AC power is sent to the house. A rectifier converts the wild ac to direct current. This is used by the charge controller to store in the battery and finally be used in the house from an 8kw off grid inverter.
