How to make Adjustable Voltage Regulator | DIY Voltage Controller circuit
Make a simple Voltage Regulator circuit using lm317T, this is a linear regulator and the efficiency is 70% but can vary depending on input voltage and current draw from the output. maximum output current is 1.5A, this circuit can be used to power low current consumption device like LEDs, charging smartphone, radio, DC fan etc.
DIY| How to build ADJUSTABLE VOLTAGE REGULATOR using LM317 with SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION
1. You can adjust the Output voltage from 1.5 volt to 35 volt provided the input voltage is greater then output voltage by at least 2 to 3 volt
2. In the circuit the purpose of the Diode is to protect from short circuits.
a) Diode D1 protects from internal short circuits &
b) Diode D2 protects from external short circuits
The Circuit diagram for the voltage regulator is shown in the first image. Construct the circuit according to the circuit diagram.
Note: Don't Forget to connect an Heat Sink to the IC
To adjust the Output voltage fuse the trimmer pot. The Voltage can be adjusted from 1.5 volt to 35 vol & also note the input voltage should always be greater then the output voltage. In the circuit we have used two Diodes. The purpose of the diode is to protect from short circuits.
a) Diode D1 protects from internal short circuits &
b) Diode D2 protects from external short circuits
