Air conditioners installed in the consumer's installation must be equipped with undervoltage relays with a fixed voltage cut-off setting at 75% of the rated supply voltage and an automatic reset timer with adjustable time setting between 5 and 10 minutes.
If a fault were to occur (phase cut, etc.), the relay would de-energize and, taking control of the external contactor, would also de-energize the contactor; to prevent the device from being damaged.
A phase failure can cause undefined states. For example, the engines can no longer start.
All three-phase control relays detect a phase failure whenever the voltage of a phase is less than 60% of its nominal value
A change in the phase order during operation, or an incorrect phase order
before starting, causes a change in the direction of rotation of the connected device.
Generators, pumps or fans are spinning in the wrong direction
and the installation can no longer function correctly.
