Those who follow our channel have already seen me sticking a grounding rod in my hand, they have seen me using a sledgehammer, but until today we haven't shown how the hammer helps us, that's because in the last job, our hammer burned down and it's only now that we bought a new one.
Anyway, when it comes to planting grounding rods, especially when the ground has stones or is a harder terrain, we suffer a lot to put the rods in our hands or even a sledgehammer. I've done this myself a lot, I gave a lot of sledgehammering until I was able to buy a hammer, or at least shame on my face and rent one hehehe.
But we know that just a hammer won't solve it, we need this piece adapted here, we affectionately nicknamed ours frank”, because of frankstein.
In fact it is a mixture of two pieces, an old pointer with sds plus fitting welded with a 26mm cannon bit that practically fits all thicknesses of rods most used in the market. We came here to the sawmill and cut the tip of the pointer to fit the cannon.
Then we asked to solder the two pieces, here you don't need to save on soldering, it has to be well done, because it will receive a lot of impact throughout its useful life hehehe, we recommend soldering all possible points of contact.
We also asked the welder to fill the inside as well, here our tip is to try to leave a slightly bulged finish on the weld, that way less damage to the head of the rod at the moment of impact.
Finally, just give that talent with the sander, removing the excess solder that people call burr too, and now we have another cool tool to stick rods in the ground, as Brener says, it's "all fillet"!
Now let's talk about values. If you're going to buy everything new, you'll spend 20 Reais for the pointer, plus 15 for the cannon, and if you don't have a welding machine, a locksmith charges you about 30 Reais for the service. Anyway, you will spend around 70 Reais to make a piece like this at the most, but think that this will save you a lot of effort and the appointment with an orthopedist if it goes bad is much more expensive.
