automatic reverse forward with limit switch wiring diagram
In a Forward/Reverse Control situation where a machine is physically moving on rails, there must be limit switches to prevent overrun.
Limit Switches are used to stop the movement of the ,machine to prevent it from ‘hitting the stop and causing damage or a dangerous situation. There may also be Emergency Stop Switches in addition to the limit Switches should they fail.
If there is position measurement, there would be software limits and a reference ‘home’ switch to provide calibration. Limit Switches and Emergency Stop Switches are always ‘Normally Closed’ (NC).
