decided to turn a run-of-the-mill automotive A/C compressor into a gas-burning see-through engine. Most compressors are designed like tiny piston engines, so it wasn't too difficult to turn this one into an internal-combustion machine. And the addition of a clear plexiglass cylinder head lets you peek inside.
The builder starts by taking apart the compressor and drilling holes in the cylinders for intake and exhaust ports. He then uses an acrylic resin to fabricate a head to hold the spark plugs, along with a clever fuel injection system. He uses motorcycle coils, a makeshift magnet-powered distributer, and a custom wiring harness to get spark.
